The Specific Training portion addresses the needs of adults who have recently accepted the responsibility of delivering the Scouting program to youth by serving as Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters. The Outdoor Weekend is a fun-filled program of hands-on skills training in the outdoors. It's designed to help you master the basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot to First Class. Both, along with This is Scouting, are required to be considered TRAINED and are a prerequisite for attendance at WOOD BADGE.
The Northeastern Pennsylvania Council COPE Committee would like to invite you to attend our COPE Staff training course weekend.
The cost for the weekend is $40.00, which includes all meals, lodging, equipment, recognition and training materials, $50 if you would like to purchase a Project COPE Manual (not required)
You are cordially invited to Cub Scout Leader Specific Training. The purpose of Scouting is to teach values and ethical behavior, using a program of fun and learning that is interesting, exciting, and engaging for our youth members. This is accomplished through the efforts and dedication of thousands of volunteer leaders. They cannot be successful in this vital mission without a thorough knowledge of what they are trying to accomplish and how to go about it. And that knowledge comes through training.
Great Medicine, the National Youth Leadership Training Conference, is a two-weekend training for youth leaders developed by the Boy Scouts of America and offered by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council. The conference is an exciting, action-packed program designed to provide youth with 21st century leadership skills and experiences they can use in their home troops, crews and in other situations demanding leadership of self and others. Scoutmasters and Crew Advisers are encouraged to provide opportunities within their units for application and use of the leadership training learned at the conference so that the Scout applies the skills he or she learns during the conference. Great Medicine is conducted by a staff of top-level, Scouts and Leaders selected by the Council Training Committee. Due to course dynamics, full attendance at both weekends is required for course completion.
